Safety experts are calling on the government to review all public venues across the country following the fatal human crush on Saturday at Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang, East Java, one of the world’s worst soccer stadium disasters in recent decades. Soehatman Ramli, chairman of the World Safety Organization (WSO) Indonesia, said the government should oblige operators of all venues that hosted public events, from sports to entertainment, to have emergency response plans in place.
